International Symposium in Honour of the 180th Anniversary of the Birth of Ilia Chavchavadze
The International Symposium in Honour of the 180th Anniversary of the Birth of Ilia Chavchavadze is organized by the Faculty of Humanities at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. This international and interdisciplinary symposium will bring together a range of academics and practitioners to discuss the issues related to Ilia Chavchavadze in literature, history, politics, social sciences and other areas. The symposium will offer an opportunity for renewing old acquaintances, making new contacts, and networking across higher education and beyond.
The Symposium sessions will be divided thematically into sections. Registration for either of these sections will allow participants to take part in the work of any other section.
Symposium Theme
Submissions are organized into the thematic streams relevant to Ilia Chavchavadze’s legacy and its reflection in the following areas:
- Literary studies/Translation Studies
- Linguistics
- Arts/Aesthetics
- Philosophy/Theology
- Ethnology
- Education
- History
- Social sciences
- Journalism/Media
- Politics
- Economics
- Law
Working languages: Georgian, English, Russian.
Time limit:
Presentation: 15 minutes
Discussion: 5-7 minutes

Length: maximum 300 words
Submit your proposal and join the discussion. Abstracts of no more than 300 words should be submitted by September 30, 2017.

Fees - €100 (includes all the meals, tours, access to all the sessions and electronic publication in proceedings);
€50 - For international PhD students;
In case of a joint presentation each co-author will have to register separately and pay the full fee.
