Rector of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU), Giorgi Sharvashidze has offered members of the Academic Council to begin working on the university’s strategic development plan. A special working group will be set up for this purpose.
“The door will be open; it is the document, which should be developed jointly by us. The more people participate, the better. The more professionals get involved, the better. Therefore, we asked those members of the Academic Council, who are education experts and lawyers to join the process actively. The Tbilisi State University really has an intellectual ability to become a catalyst of positive changes,” Giorgi Sharvashidze said.
The Rector briefed the Academic Council on the requirements of a group of students, who held a protest rally on September 26.
As for student requirements on extension of the timeframes of administrative and academic registration and restructuring payment of tuition fees, the Rector and the administration discussed the existing situation and made a decision to amend the Rector’s order, according to which the university will conclude agreements on debt restructuring with those students, who have debts.
When commenting on the issue of extending the timeframes of administrative and academic registration, Head of the Learning Process Management Department, Dali.Kandelaki said: “The University’s administration has received applications from those students, who have not paid the fees for previous semesters. The administration is studying each case separately. In order to create no problems to such students, the Rector made an amendment to the order on the timeframes of learning process, according to which administration and academic registration has been extended through October 3.”
