Mission 2018 Awards Ceremony

The winners of student competition Mission 2018 were revealed at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on June 7. Five finalist teams submitted presentations on a topic “Dirsi’s Summer City” offered by a partner company AS Georgia Dirsi. The jury revealed three best teams: the team “One” won the first place; the two other places were won by “TSUholic” and “Mediator”, respectively. The prize money at GEL 5 000 was divided between the winners. The first place winner received GEL 2 500, and the second and third place winners received GEL 1 500 and GEL 1 000, respectively. Certificates and memorable gifts were handed over to all finalists.

The jury consisted of Giorgi Sharvashidze, Rector of TSU; Beso Jikurauli, Director General of AS Georgia Dirsi, and invited guests – Giorgi Isakadze, Forbes Georgia’s editor-in-chief; Tako Rodonaia, corporate communications expert at Geocell; Teimuraz Babutsidze, partner relationship manager at VEO Georgia and winner of Mission 2011; Zaza Tsinadze, deputy head of Municipal Department of Culture, Education, Sport and Youth Affairs.

Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze said that the participants voiced interesting and original ideas. “The jury found it difficult to reveal the winners. There were slight differences between the three winning projects. I believe that all those persons who participated in the project are already winners. I am sure that the contestants will make the most of their experience,” Rector Sharvashidze said.

Beso Jikurauli, Director General of AS Georgia Dirsi, congratulated the teams on their success and thanked them for participation. “We have received a lot of interesting ideas from you and we will definitely use them. I think that we will hold interesting events on the territory of Dirsi in summers ahead. It confirms that students get high-level education at TSU,” he said.

Giorgi Barbakadze, a participant from the winning team, said that the project was a huge experience for each of them. “A month work over the project was difficult and full of challenges and the victory was a real surprise. Not only the project, but also the workshops organized by TSU and Dirsi gave us a lot of experience. I am sure that this knowledge will help us advance our career.”

TSU Student Competition in Marketing and PR is an annual project jointly implemented by TSU and a successful Georgian brand. Each year the competition has a new partner company and contestants create new ideas for a new partner.

The goal of the competition is to promote the implementation of student ideas and their professional development, to ensure cooperation of winning students with partner companies and to increase future employment opportunities. The contestants have an opportunity to become the company’s virtual marketing and PR managers, to plan particular activities, to win the competition, to obtain money awards and realize their own ideas.

56 teams from various faculties of the university took part in the student competition. The jury selected five best teams. The representatives of TSU and Dirsi conducted special trainings and workshops for contestants in the process of fulfilling final tasks.

The competition was held for the sixth time this year. Last year the competition was held in partnership with the following companies: IDS Borjomi Georgia; GeoPlant; Natakhtari; Sante and TBC Bank.
