A ceremony of awarding the graduates of Winter School ‘Critical Thinking in Social Sciences’ was held at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on September 29. Lecturers and students of the winter school attended the event. Acting Dean of the TSU Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Tamar Makharadze and Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work, Iago Kachkachishvili handed over certificates to graduate students.
“A very interesting winter school was held upon the initiative of the Ministry of Education. Although we discuss all these problems during lectures in frames of educational programs, the winter school collected critical reflections in social sciences. It is also important that regional universities also participated in the winter school, during which they shared experience, established social contacts that will promote further development of graduates,” TSU Professor Iago Kachkachishvili said.
“The project proved extremely useful. It was for the first time that we, the students of sociology direction from almost the entire country, gathered together. We acquired much not only from academic point of view, but also in terms of establishing contacts and sharing information,” Tekla Jamrulidze, the winter school graduate student, said.
The Winter School ‘Critical Thinking in Social Sciences’ was organized by the Sociology Department of the TSU Faculty of Social and Political Sciences. 50 students - 20 from TSU and 30 from regional universities participated in it (among them students from Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University; Kutaisi Akaki Tsereteli State University; Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University; Gori State University and Samtskhe-Javakheti State University). Famous scientists from TSU and other higher educational institutions, as well as foreign professors from the universities of Frankfurt (Germany) and Helsinki (Finland) were invited to deliver lectures at the school. The Winter School ‘Critical Thinking in Social Sciences’ was held at the Tbilisi State University on February 17-26, 2014.
