New PhD Program at TSU

The Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) has announced call for applications for the admission to a new PhD Program in European Studies, which will be fully financed by the European Union. TSU Vice-Rector Levan Aleksidze, Director of the Institute for European Studies at TSU, Nino Lapiashvili and EU Ambassador to Georgia, Philip Dimitrov attended the presentation of the PhD program on April 4. Students involved in the PhD Program in European Studies will carry out research in leading European universities during three months. 

Director of the Institute for European Studies, Nino Lapiashvili said: “The European Union traditionally supports TSU.  The Institute for European Studies was established at TSU in 2007. It implements English-language PhD program in European Studies. This is a very successful program.  In parallel with signing the Association Agreement, it is essential to train more specialists of this direction. The European Union decided to finance PhD studies. The Institute for European Studies is pleased to announce call for applications for the admission to this program, where 12 PhD students will undergo their studies.  They will have an opportunity to carry out research in leading European universities. After being awarded a PhD degree, they will deliver lectures and continue their scientific activities at TSU.” 

Ambassador Dimitrov said that 12 students from TSU would be able to carry out research at European universities that “is a huge achievement for the Tbilisi State University.”

Persons having at least Master’s Degree in one of the following fields: Law, Economics, Social and Political Sciences and Humanities - are eligible to be accepted to the interdisciplinary, English taught PhD Program in European Studies. Curriculum of the PhD Program was developed by leading European experts and universities.
