Presentation of 7th Edition of TSU Science
A presentation of the 7th edition of a scientific journal TSU Science was held at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on January 22. Deputy Rector of TSU, Professor Merab Eliashvili, professors and students attended the event.
Deputy Rector Merab Eliashvili said that “the purpose of this journal and its target audience is diverse. The English-language edition is intended for foreign scientists attending scientific conferences at TSU. The journal helps them familiarize themsevles with research studies ongoing at the university. The Georgian version takes into account the scientific interests of Georgian society. The information provided in the journal about research studies will interest any member of our society.”
“The journal traditionally offers information about a part of research studies carried out at the university during a year. We decided to start the 2015 edition with the unique inscription discovered on Grakliani Hill. This ancient inscription may become the beginning of a new era not only for Georgian history. The 7th edition, however, offers a lot of other interesting research materials,” Tamar Khorbaladze, editor of TSU Science said.
The 7th edition of TSU Science provides information about a part of research activities carried out at the university. The journal offers materials about TSU’s role and place in the university rankings; Anthim Iverianul Georgian-European Dialogue; the Gelati Bible with Catenas; Indicators of Post-Traumatic Growth and Psychological Well-Being in Life Stories, as well as Citizenship Styles in Georgia.
The 7th edition also provides information about how materials from Ilia Chavchavadze’s personal encyclopaedia are obtained and handled; what particular security studies are underway at TSU; how TSU scientists imagine the Europeanization of Georgia’s national security. Readers will familiarize themselves with the details of a new textbook on Probation Law, as well as with Liberalizing Trends in Georgian Criminal Law.
With the help of TSU researchers you will find out that the Vardzia Cave Monastery Complex is facing geological problems; you will learn about the oil and gas composition perspectives for deeply buried sediments in eastern Georgia; research carried out by Georgian scientists on balanced nutrition for poulty and animals.
The journal will also acquaint its readers with a tradition of multi-year collaboration between Tbilisi State University and the University of Göttingen; details about developing a Black Sea regional short-term forecasting system with the participation of TSU scientists.
The Faculty of Medicine will provide information about major dental diseases in Georgia and modern approaches to prevention, as well as experimental modeling of manganese toxic encephalopathy.
The journal also provides the research conducted by TSU economists on the strategy for increasing the competitiveness of Georgia; viticulture, wine making and diversification opportunities in Georgia; perceptions of Georgian customer loyalty towards foreign brands.
The journal TSU Science is a publication issued by the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU). The primary objective of this scientific journal is to inform the public about scientific processes ongoing at the university. It contains materials about those research activities that have already gained international recognition, have received research grants and information about which has been published in peer-reviewed journals, while reports have been presented to scientific conferences. Frequently, these research activities are the result of successful international collaboration.
The journal is issued in Georgian and English languages. The first bilingual journal was issued in 2011 and two editions were issued annually. Since 2014 only one edition is being issued per year in two independent publications - in Georgian and English languages. A bilingual website of TSU Science was created in 2015.
