Deutsche Welle Academy Certificates Awarded
On November 29 the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University hosted a ceremony of awarding senior teachers, lecturers and professors from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication with certificates of the Deutsche Welle Academy.
The university teachers and lecturers underwent retraining in media development. The training lasted for two weeks. As a result, syllabuses of journalism program will be renewed and innovatory teaching methods will be introduced.
The project was implemented in frames of the cooperation between the Deutsche Welle Academy and the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Trainers from the Deutsche Welle Academy and TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava attended the event.
TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava said: “It is important to implement such projects, which are based on cooperation. When teachers and lecturers participate in similar projects, it is twice useful, because they are able to transfer acquired knowledge to their students. It means that owing to these trainings, along with their teachers, students can also familiarize themselves with novelties. I am sure that all the retrained teachers will be successful in educational process. However, students play the most important role in examining their knowledge.”
“The key goal of the training was to introduce innovatory methods in educational process. TSU academic staff is very satisfied with the training. New projects are planned for future,” Mariam Gersamia, Head of Journalism Direction of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, said.
Trainer Thorsten Karg from the Deutsche Welle Academy thanked the university’s academic staff for their diligence. “During two weeks we have discussed important issues – how to teach and what to teach the students in the sphere of multimedia. I hope that we have managed to share our experience. This training will be useful not only for the teachers and lecturers, but also for the entire university,” Thorsten Karg said.
