Student Conference at TSU
The 3rd Scientific Conference in Exact and Natural Sciences was held at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU). The event was dedicated to the first rector of the university, Petre Melikishvili. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, TSU students and professors attended the conference.
TSU students presented their papers on various topics in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, geography, geology and computer science.
TSU Rector Vladimer Papava said: “The youth conference, which brought together students from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, drew to a close. This year the conference was dedicated to the first rector of TSU, Petre Melikishvili. Similar conferences give a good experience to our young people.”
“My paper is about biologically active substances. We are working over the synthesis of new substances – we are receiving substances similar to already existing ones, which will have similar functions, but be less toxic, or some of their functions will be intensified. It is almost impossible to predict the creation of such substances. We are trying and working on new substances, sending them to various research centers to test their biological activity on cell culture to ensure that in case of interest, these substances are used in other research activities as well,” Natia Karchava, third-year student from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, said.
