TSU, Wissol Petroleum Georgia Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

The Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) and the company Wissol Petroleum Georgia signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on December 16. The memorandum was signed by TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava and Director General of Wissol Petroleum Georgia, Vasil Khorava.

TSU Rector Vladimer Papava said that “cooperation with business is of crucial importance for the university. A tradition of cooperation between business and university already exists in the world. It is especially important for us to establish cooperation with a successful company, like Wissol Petroleum Georgia is. It is a great pleasure to lay the foundation for the relationship, which will further expand in future. It is noteworthy that the company will itself select students, grant scholarships to them or employ them. Not only these students should be most successful, but they should also be creative and offer new ideas to the employer.”

“Success of the company Wissol Petroleum Georgia is based on good knowledge of business and education. This is just how the success story of our company has been created. We attach great importance to supporting young people and students. Our goal is to motivate students – success can be achieved through education and diligent work. Today there are two problems on labor market – unemployment and lack of professional, highly skilled staff. The road towards our company is open for those young people, who want to study and work. On our part, we will share our experience accumulated for years with students,” Director General of Wissol Petroleum Georgia, Vasil Khorava said.

The goal of the memorandum is to assist students in developing their professional skills, to promote their employment and create personnel resources for the company. To ensure deepening of mutual cooperation, student rapprochement with the employer and their better training for labor market, the parties will periodically organize joint events, meetings and seminars. In order to encourage successful students, the company will itself define the priorities and select its own scholars through a competition. This year the Wissol Petroleum Georgia Scholarship was granted to two last-year students from the TSU Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences – Tsotne Chikovani and Giorgi Gurtsishvili.
