Power supply will been restored to the Arnold Chikobava Institute of Linguistics of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University at full capacity in the near future. Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission imposed an obligation on Telasi, an electricity distributor in Tbilisi, to repair the damaged power cable.
As known, damage of the power cable resulted in cutting off power supplies to the Institute of Linguistics, TSU’s independent scientific research unit. In January 2017, the TSU Administration sent a letter to JSC Telasi requesting duly repair of the cable, but Telasi rejected TSU’s request citing lack of access to the cable. Later the TSU Administration filed a complaint to the regulatory commission and called for its reaction.
Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission raised the issue at its February 23 session and made a decision in favor of TSU.
“Georgian National Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission imposed an obligation on Telasi to supply power to the Institute that should be ensured no later than March 31, 2017. The commission will monitor the fulfillment of its decision. So, we hope that power supplies will be restored to the Institute of Linguistics at full capacity in the near future,” Deputy Head of the TSU Administration, Lasha Saginadze said.
