A congress of the European Hair Research Society (EHRS) was opened at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University on June 24. The medical congress is the major event of the year in trichology, which is held in Georgia for the first time with the support of the National Center of Dermatology and Venereology.
The congress has brought together scientists, clinicists, trichobiologists, pharmacologists, transplant surgeons, pathophysiologists, representatives of aesthetic medicine from Georgia and various European countries.
“For the first time the TSU Faculty of Medicine is hosting an important event, such as the Congress of the European Hair Research Society. Famous scientists, professors, academic staff have arrived from almost all countries of the world. Georgia’s participation in this forum will promote the integration of our country into Europe’s medical society that will pave the way for new relations. Moreover, we will have an opportunity to familiarize ourselves with new technologies in the fields of diagnosis and treatment,” TSU Professor Giorgi Galdava said.
“Today we have an opportunity to attend the 17th meeting of the European Hair Research Society. For the first time the forum is being held in Eastern Europe and I hope that this three-day conference will be very important from a scientific perspective,” Abraham Zlotogorski, Prof. of Dermatology, Chairman of the Department of Dermatology and Venereology at Hadassah Medical Center, said.
The main goal of the medical congress is to introduce new technologies, as well as to unite Georgian and European physicians in a common space. The conference focused on the issues of hair biology and pathology. Experts provided the results of their research, shared practical experience with participants and discussed new trends in trichology.
The European Hair Research Society (EHRS) was founded in Brussels in 1989. Each year the congress is held in various countries. In 2016, Georgia is the host country.
