TSU, EU-Georgia Business Council Sign Memorandum of Cooperation
Students of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University will undergo internships at leading business organizations, according to the Memorandum of Cooperation signed by TSU and EU-Georgia Business Council on October 20.
The Memorandum was signed by Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze and Secretary General of EU-Georgia Business Council, Zviad Chumburidze.
Rector Sharvashidze said that the Memorandum will enable TSU students to undergo internship courses. “EU-Georgia Business Council cooperates in business sector with all countries of the European Community. Through the internship program envisaged by the Memorandum, our students will have an opportunity to undergo internships and get jobs at leading business organizations. Business and learning will be interlinked in this space,” the Rector said.
“TSU students will be able to undergo 2-3 month internships at our organization. Our member business companies will also join the process. Business conferences, roundtables, meetings with businesspeople, foreigners, embassies and commercial attachés will be held. It will be very interesting for students,” Secretary General of EU-Georgia Business Council, Zviad Chumburidze said.
Christopher Schlueter, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the EU-Georgia Business Council, said that the Memorandum is a good opportunity for students because it will open a new window for them towards business society. He expressed hope that with the help of students, EUGBC will achieve more success that will also be beneficial for Georgia.
Under the Memorandum, students and graduates of the TSU Faculty of Economics and Business will undergo practical courses at the Business Council and get involved in planning and implementing EUGBC projects. The Memorandum also envisages bilateral cooperation in educational issues that also involves delivering thematic lectures for students on all important issues, including trade with Europe.
One of the main goals of the memorandum is to encourage young economists, as well as establish effective communication between business sector and young specialists.
