MCC Vice President Visits TSU

Cynthia Huger, the Vice President of the Millennium Challenge Corporation, visited Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University on August 22. Together with Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze and CEO of the Millennium Challenge Account - Georgia, Magda Magradze, she visited modern laboratories equipped in frames of the educational projects funded by the Millennium Challenge Account – Georgia. The laboratories were opened at TSU in 2017 within the framework of the MCC – Georgia compact for San Diego University’s educational program students.    

Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze said that five labs were opened at TSU in frames of MCC – Georgia compact and some more will be opened. “San Diego State University and Tbilisi State University are jointly working on four programs. The first phase of this project will be completed next year and we will have the first engineering program at TSU accredited by ABET,” Rector Sharvashidze said.

MCC Vice President Cynthia Huger discussed the project of laboratories and talked to the students who returned from abroad.

CEO of the Millennium Challenge Account - Georgia, Magda Magradze said: “We visited TSU and viewed modern technologies purchased in frames of MCC compact; we also met with students of a joint program implemented by San Diego State University and Tbilisi State University and familiarized with the course of its implementation,” she noted.

During her working visit to Georgia, MCC Vice President Cynthia Huger will hold official meetings with Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze and Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport, Mamuka Batiashvili. The sides will discuss the projects successfully implemented in the country during four years in frames of the USD 140 million Georgia Compact. MCA Georgia is implementing projects in general, vocational, and higher education focusing on increasing the quality of education and developing Georgia’s human capital in STEM fields.
