Rusudan Nishnianidze’s Book Presentation
On December 6, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted a presentation of the book by Rusudan Nishnianidze “Unknown George (Giorgi) Papashvily.” The two-volume book is about the works by American writer and sculptor of Georgian origin, George Papashvily. Rector of TSU, George Sharvashidze, academics, invited guests and students attended the event.
Rector Sharvashidze said that “Rusudan Nishnianidze’s book is about the works by American-Georgian writer, George Papashvily. He was a talented person and a sculptor; so, by creating this book, the author presented a fantastic gift to the readers.”
The author of the two-volume book, Rusudan Nishnianidze visited the Lehigh University in the United States, where she familiarized herself with unique archival materials of George and Helen Papashvily.
The author said that the book has been written using special collections and materials stored in the United States. “The book contains a lot of biographical facts and unique photos, which are published for the first time,” Rusudan Nishnianidze said.
The book co-authored by Papashvily and his wife “Anything Can Happen” became a bestseller in 1945. The book was translated in 17 languages.
