Ivane Javakhishvili Medal Awarded to Mikheil Chkhenkeli
Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) highly appreciates the activities carried out by newly appointed Minister of Education and Science, Mikheil Chkhenkeli at the university. By decision of the TSU Academic Council, the Ivane Javakhishvili Medal has been awarded to Mikheil Chkhenkeli for his special contribution and fruitful organizational activities.
Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze noted that Mikheil Chkhenkeli has been given the highest award – the Ivane Javakhishvili Medal – for his contribution to the university’s development, organizational activities and all the positive changes initiated and organized by him. “The Academic Council made this decision unilaterally. We hope that our contacts will continue further. We also hope that a TSU alumnus will always remain a TSU alumnus no matter what position he will hold,” Sharvashidze said.
Professor Nino Okribelashvili, member of the TSU Academic Council, said that “Mikheil Chkhenkeli has worked at TSU for only one year, but he managed to establish a specific model of relations with both employees and academic staff. What is most important, he has a vision about the university education; moreover, he sees student problems accompanying them from schools.”
