The solemn 95th BA graduation ceremony was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on July 25. About 3000 students completed a BA degree this year.
The graduation ceremony was held in the courtyard of the 1st Building of TSU and along with TSU bachelors it was attended by Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze, members of the Academic Council, Deans of the TSU faculties, representatives of academic circles and invited guests.
Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze congratulated students on graduation: “Today is a special day not only for our graduates but also in the life of our country. We all are united by one thing – we all are the alumni of the Tbilisi State University. Number of specialists in our country has increased by 3000 today. Many of them will get jobs; others will continue their studies on master’s degree programs. We wish all of them success. You should have a new breath, new look at life. Remember that you are unique graduates – the 95th graduation. I believe that Class 2017 will be successful!”
“Along with my profession, I acquired friends, who have actually become the members of my family. I deepened my knowledge in the direction of international law – the University opened up an opportunity for me to continue my studies abroad and get education there. I plan to enroll in Master’s degree program at TSU,” TSU graduate Giorgi Baidze said.
TSU professors, among them Mayor of Tbilisi Davit Narmania and Chairman of the Competition Agency Nodar Khaduri also congratulated students on their graduation. By the end of the event, TSU Art band held a concert for graduates.
Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University was founded in 1918. The first graduation ceremony was held in 1922. In 2017 up to 3000 BA students completed their studies. Over 200 accredited educational programs are implemented at seven faculties of TSU with over 20 000 students undergoing their studies there. About 3600 students will be enrolled in the Tbilisi State University during the 2017-2018 academic year. In addition, 430 entrants will be enrolled in the Georgian Language Learning Program.
