Day of Italian Studies at TSU
On February 20, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted an event “the Day of Italian Studies at TSU.” Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze; Italian Ambassador to Georgia, Antonio Enrico Bartoli, professors, students and invited guests attended the event.
A brief presentation of educational programs of the Department of Italian Studies was also held. The issues of internships and exchange programs, as well as the opportunities provided to TSU students due to their knowledge of Italian language were discussed.
Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze said that the meeting was held in a very interesting format; the participants discussed the development of future collaboration between Georgia and Italy. “We have to boost our cooperation with the University of LAquila, where we are working on the development of a joint MA degree program in the field of physics. The both sides have unveiled a good initiative to introduce Italian language lessons at schools as a selective subject that will further intensify interest towards learning the Italian language,” Rector Sharvashidze said.
