The Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted a solemn event on January 10 dedicated to the 129th birth anniversary of Academician Ivane Beritashvili. The event was organized by the Ivane Beritashvili Georgian Society for Physiology and the Ivane Beritashvili Center of Experimental Biomedicine. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, academic staff and invited guests attended the event.
TSU Rector Vladimer Papava said: “There are several people, who are the symbols of the university. Among them is Ivane Beritashvili – greatest scientist of all time, founder of the school of physiology in Georgia. Today the university shows respect for his contribution to Georgian science with a scientific session.”
“Traditionally, we, the representatives of the Georgian Society of Physiology, gather each January 10 for Ivane Beritashvili’s birthday to honor his memory. Scientific papers on the achievements of modern physiology will be read out at the scientific session dedicated to Ivane Beritashvili’s birth anniversary,” Merab Tsagareli, head of the laboratory at the Ivane Beritashvili Center of Experimental Biomedicine, said.
