Diplomas were awarded to eight alumni of the French-language BA program ‘Computer Sciences’ of the TSU Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, representatives of the French Embassy to Georgia, professors from French universities, TSU students and professors attended the event.
TSU Rector Vladimer Papava said that “the involvement of our students and professors in international programs is very important for internationalization of our university. Today we handed over dual degree diplomas to the alumni of the French-language BA program. Georgian-French diplomas open up new opportunities for our students. TSU will continue to help its students create successful future. ”
“It is important that TSU students have an opportunity to get education in computer sciences in the French language. French lecturers deliver lectures for them. The program alumni have a huge chance to continue their MA studies in France,” Gilles Carasso, cultural attaché at the Embassy of France to Georgia, said.
“I decided to undergo this program, because I had an opportunity to study in foreign language in Georgia; French lecturers were teaching us. A dual degree diploma gives me an opportunity to continue my studies abroad,” Anano Kipiani, student of the TSU Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences said.
The French-language BA program is implemented at TSU since 2008. A program alumnus is awarded a dual degree diploma from the University of Paris 8 and the Tbilisi State University. The regional program (Georgia-Armenia-Azerbaijan-Ukraine) envisages MA studies for students with the purpose of deepening their knowledge, developing a scientific-research network and establishing high quality of informatics. The French-language BA program is accredited by the Education Ministry of France. Lectures are delivered by both Georgian and French teachers.
